I have been binge reading the Jack Swyteck series for a couple of months and have now caught up! Loved them all! This one was a bit slow moving for the first 1/3 of the book but then became so exciting that I read it in one sitting! Theo was a scene stealer with most of his comments in this book! Andie appeared to be tougher than Jack, who seemed more tired than in other books. But together with the villains and other characters, this book became a winner.

After all of the bad reviews, my expectations were low but it was actually fairly good. I don't believe it was one of his best but i'm still looking forward to his next Jack Swytek book. Mr Grippando is entitled to one novel that is less than his best after almost 20 novels that entertained me.

This book is only the second one of Grippando's books that I have read Now I want to start reading Pardon and all of his other books A most interesting writer to discover

A look into life and politics in Cuba. If you don't like Jack's view of politics you can jump on his FBI agent wife's, who is going to be on the opposing side. Theo's wit offsets the tension. There is enough theories and accusations to keep you guessing right up to the end.

A different kind of story line. getting a bit politicalSometimes a bit repetitiveI'm not sure the tensions of the marriage wont start to drag after a while

I liked it because I like James Grippando as an author. I got into the story but it seemed to drag along a lot and wander. Its nice that his wife is such a strong FBI agent, very take charge in everything. But he shouldn't be made to seem brow beaten by her. O.K., I'm a woman and I'm still saying she is too much at times. He's the center of the story, shouldn't be hen pecked.

As soon as i saw Black Horizon was available I downloaded it to my Kindle since I have never read a bad book by Grippando. this one is all about oil spills and intrigue interwoven with Jack and Andie's marriage and loss of their first child by miscarriage...a really good story that I read in a hurry just to see what was going to happen.

This was a fun and simple read. Nothing jaw dropping about it. It delivered with the entertainment and I was happy with it. I don't know if I would follow the character anymore. I like the south Florida location and he did his research.
